When a grim reaper (Rodney) returns from a routine job escorting an old woman to the underworld, he discovers that someone living has followed him through. A living soul wandering into the underworld poses all sorts of problems, but to make matters worse, the stowaway that follows Death downstairs decides that she wants to be his girlfriend. Rodney's best friend, Gwen doesn't like the new girl and doesn't make any effort to hide it. Close to Death is an animated comedy that's sort of a crossover between The Princess Bride and A Goofy Movie—lots of wit and a lot of slapstick.
